"Tournament"-style Group: This group meets from noon to 3:00 pm on Tuesdays and from noon to 3:00 pm on Thursdays at the Ken Gosh Pavilion at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS). Please try to be 5 or 10 minutes early so that the games can begin promptly.

This "tournament"-style group plays by tournament rules including the use of timers. There are only two players in each game. No reference materials are permitted except for challenges and there is no conversation during the games. You can read the official NSA tournament rules by clicking here and the supplemental house rules by clicking here

"Casual" Group:  This group meets from noon to 2:30 pm on Mondays and Fridays at the Ken Gosh Pavilion at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS). This group has a more relaxed set of rules which permits looking words up, free exchanges of triplicate letters, use of reference sheets, and some  discussion and talking during play. There are usually 3 or 4 players per board, so the games go very quickly. This group does not keep records, so there are no performance statistics available.

Both groups are looking for new players. If you haven't played for a while, try starting out with the "casual" group and move up to the "tournament" group when you feel ready. There are copies of the new National Scrabble Association (NSA) dictionary and word lists available on game days and there are free "Important Words to Raise Your Score" reference sheets available to new players. If you have a game board, please bring it along, especially if it is mounted on a turntable.

All players need to keep the Pavilion neat and tidy by disposing of coffee cups and other debris at the end of play and moving the tables and chairs back into their original configuration. Thanks a lot!

Please come and join us in a friendly game of Scrabble -- you'll meet a lot of nice people and help keep the grey cells active!
